Snippets of poetry – little lines

Metaphors and similes

Creep near me at night

Like a curious wild creature

Knowing they’ve been spotted

Admired

Considered

Appreciated

But knowing they’re safe.

From me rising from my

Half-sleep state

To commit them to page

Off they scurry back to safety

Hidden by emails

Kids

Appointments

Obligations

Waiting for me to exhaust myself

So they can once again play

cat-and -mouse

With my resident poet.
